Colinda is a cherished tradition where groups of singers, especially children, visit homes to share festive songs and bring joy to the community. We had the honor of welcoming the adorable kindergarten class of one of our colleagues’ children. Their sweet voices and joyful spirit filled our space with warmth and holiday cheer. It was a touching moment that reminded us of the importance of community and togetherness during this special season.

What is Colinda?

In traditional Romanian villages, preparations for Colinda start weeks before Christmas. Groups of youth, known as cete de colindători, practice their songs and organize visits around the village. On Christmas Eve, they go from house to house, starting with prominent community members like the mayor or the local teacher. Families welcome them with small treats like nuts, dried fruits, and colaci (a traditional Romanian bread).

Wishing everyone a warm and joyful holiday season from the entire team at Van der Leun Romania!
